From a historic, family-run estate in Volnay now in its fifth generation, Domaine Joseph Voillot’s 2022 Pommard Vieilles Vignes is a refined and terroir-driven red Burgundy. The wine is sourced from old vines planted in Pommard across deep, stony limestone soils. Vinification is traditional and parcel-specific, using indigenous yeasts and gentle cap-punching, followed by aging for 16–18 months in barrels, 25% of which are new. The wine opens with a bouquet of cherry, raspberry, and hints of tobacco, spice, and toasted oak. On the palate, it is both powerful and elegant, showing silky tannins, bright acidity, and a lingering mineral freshness. Pairs great with veal.
